About Me
Jessica Skolnik
Surface Pattern Designer
Hi, I'm Jessica
I'm a surface pattern designer and artist based in North Carolina, creating nature-inspired artwork for fabric, stationery, home décor, and lifestyle products.
My creative journey began long before I ever knew what surface pattern design was. I've always been drawn to color, pattern, and the beauty found in everyday moments. As a child, I spent hours creating, observing nature, and finding inspiration in the small details that many people overlook. Over time, that curiosity evolved into a passion for creating artwork that tells a story and evokes a feeling.
Like many artists, my path wasn't a straight line. While building a career and raising a family, creativity remained a constant thread woven through every season of life. Sometimes it was creating watercolor portratits and sometimes is was decorating cupcakes and making hand-made invitations for my daughter's birthday.
Eventually, I discovered surface pattern design and immediately felt at home. It combined everything I loved, illustration, storytelling, color, and the opportunity to create artwork that becomes part of people's daily lives.
Today, my work is inspired by heirloom traditions, woodland walks, blooming gardens, treasured memories, and the women who have shaped my story.
I believe the most meaningful designs are the ones that make people feel something, whether it's nostalgia, joy, comfort, or connection.
My hope is to create artwork that is not only beautiful but lasting patterns that can be worn, displayed, loved, and passed down from one generation to the next.
When I'm not designing, you'll find me in my garden, exploring nature, collecting inspiration from everyday life, and dreaming up new collections that celebrate the beauty of meaningful moments.
